LOCAL LEADER AND AUTHOR PARTICIPATES IN 2014 CONGRESSIONAL
BLACK CAUCUS LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE

(PittsburghNewsWire.com) PITTSBURGH, PA – On the heels of hosting a successful summit that addressed critical issues affecting the Black family and the debut of her first book “God and I Navigating a Mysterious Illness,” the Rev. Dr. Judith C. Moore is taking her concerns and insight to Washington, D.C. She has been invited to participate in segments of the 44th Annual Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference. Conference activities, organized by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation took place September 24 through 27.

Known as the premier gathering of African Americans dealing with legislative and policy issues cultivating engaging policy discussions on issues that impact black communities around the world, the conference will feature more than 70 policy sessions. More than 10,000 people are expected to be involved from around the world.

Dr. Moore has been requested to take part in activities hosted by the Black Women’s Roundtable (BWR), an intergenerational network of women leaders representing Black women and girls from across the country. She says the highlight of her involvement in the prestigious conference was the opportunity to partake in the Annual Legislative Conference Author Pavilion held at the Washington, DC Convention Center, September 25-27.

BWR held a press conference with National Football League executives addressing domestic violence, sexual assault and other issues plaguing the NFL. The goal is to put together an action plan detailing specific actions to elevate the voices of women of color in the conversation about domestic violence in the NFL, other sports, and the broader issue of domestic violence nationally.

Moore also played a significant role in the BWR 6th Annual Public Policy Forum Series by serving on a panel of experts that shared solutions addressing issues impacting Black women and girls. Also, the forum provided an update on the ongoing 2014 BWR Power of the Sister Vote Campaign.

Former Washington, DC Mayor Marion Barry and noted author and public speaker, George Fraser were two of the noted panelists Moore shared the podium with during the Author’s Pavilion.  The panel utilized the Conference theme, It Starts With You and a book signing took place afterwards.

Moore’s book, God and I Navigating a Mysterious Illness fell in the genre of inspiration and personal growth/body, mind and spirit. She describes it as her inspirational journey to bridge the communication gap with the medical community. “God and I Navigating a Mysterious Illness is not just a book, but an individual tool that supplies the reader with inspiration and practical instruction to break through barriers and become empowered to make better; and better informed decisions about your health.”

Dr. Moore is available for interviews to create discussion and to address issues tackled during the historical 44th Annual Legislative Conference and to discuss her book.
